Event Recap: WCAS Fun Fest 2024

This year, WCAS events and WSAB teamed up to organize a spring quarter event for staff, dubbed Fun Fest. On May 9, we gathered at Five & Dime in downtown Evanston and took over the restaurant space (save for the patio, thanks weather). Staff filtered in and out between 3 and 5pm and we enjoyed seeing everyone who stopped by.

Throughout the event, staff mingled and enjoyed delicious food and drinks. We competed in getting to know you bingo for a chance to win prizes and learn fun facts about our colleagues (our five winners were Jessica Clements, Carina Ernst, Justin Stoepel-Brewer, Karen Allen, and Christina Alexandru). While the gray drizzly weather kept us indoors and prevented us from holding the Corn Hole tournament planned for the event, that’s not the last you’ll hear of that. Keep an eye out for cornhole this summer!

The one off event was a huge success, and we had a great time with you all. Scroll down to view event pictures!

A wide shot of the room showing staff seated at tables enjoying plates of food gathered from the buffet. The industrial ceiling and glass windows are in the background. A table of Weinberg staff enjoys crudite and chips with guac. A staff member bends over the table and uses the table surface to fill out their bingo card. A wide photo of the room which shows the white brick wall, industrial ceiling, bar, and two tables of staff seated chatting. Weinberg staff seated in front of booths at Five and Dime look out across the room and observe the scene. A close range, birdseye photograph of a dining table. There is a cocktail in a coupe cocktail glass with a frothy white top and cured orange slice. Below that is a plate of food including a slider, Mac and cheese, and fries. Out of focus, there is a bingo card in the background that says WCAS Fun Fest bingo. In the foreground, a picture of a hand holding up an orange cocktail with a frothy white top garnished with an orange. The background is blurry and shows a few people standing and the bar floor.
