2023 WSAB Award Winners

Weinberg Staff were out in full force celebrating the holidays and WSAB got into the spirit of giving with holding contests with prizes! The winners of Spy Games and our annual “Ugly” Sweater Contest were recognized at the WCAS Holiday Party at Bob’s Pizza on December 5, 2023. Our annual Holiday Office Decor contest winner was awarded at our Cookie Exchange Party on December 13.

Board members Quinn Leach and Feda Jarad (last year’s winner) organized this year’s Spy Games.  In this light-hearted game, which ran for the majority of Fall Quarter, staff compete to catch each other unawares around campus.  This year’s winner was Jen Marino (Psychology).  Her “eliminations” included surprising Danny Turek (WCAS Dean’s Office) at the chili cook off. The top five was rounded out by Amanda Bartosiak (Spanish & Portuguese, second place), Jessica Kooi (Chemistry, third), Ginger Gilmore (Life Sciences, fourth) and Tiffany Williams-Cobleigh (International and Area Studies, fifth)

WSAB organized an ugly sweater contest at the Dean’s Holiday Party.  Complete with a catwalk around the bar, all of the participants strutted their stuff and tried to collect chocolate coins as votes. This year Cindy Pingry of the Weinberg College Center for International and Area Studies won wearing a red sweater with a wreathed reindeer.  It was a nail-biter with Angela Crimmin (Marketing and Communications Director for Weinberg) cast the 11th hour vote to break the tie with Natalia Zochowski of the Harvey Kapnick Center for Business Institutions (who came in second) for her Christmas-tree inspired dress. Third was taken by Christina Alexandru of History in her Christmas-tree hoodie..  Cindy seems to be on a winning streak – Cindy also won the Chili Cook Off hosted by the Dean’s Office on October 30!

The Snowman Trophy for best Office Holiday Decor was passed from Sociology to the Dean’s Office on December 13! With a whopping 26 votes, edging out their nearest competitor (Tech Institute Rooms F155, F165 and F134, with 21 votes) – Carissa Thalmann and Rebecca Siroky took the top prize with their meticulously hand-drawn and colored WCAS Winter Barbie decorations for Room B01 in 1922 Sheridan.

Congratulations to all of the participants!
